Happy New Year to you all
Sorry for the delay in getting these diary pages to you – took a little time off over Christmas and I am still catching up with all the progress here on site. Canal street is really resembling a street now, the steel work for the visitor centre is rising from the ground and our new toilet extension at the forest glen is very nearly ready.
Well, it was a very wet Christmas and a chilly New Year for us but this did not stop the progress of the Blists Hill Project.
Well, the nights are creeping in here at Blists Hill Victorian Town and without any 'modern' street lighting it goes dark quickly!
Canal Street is really coming on a pace – roof trusses are in place and we are really beginning to see the room layouts and the whole street scene coming together.
Things really are moving at a pace now.
The 'spoil mountains' on the car park are no longer – they have now been replaced by giant wheel washers which are fascinating machines.
As you can imagine August is a very busy time for us, and trying to keep the site operating at full capacity and keep the project progressing could have been a difficult time.
Work has begun on the new visitor entrance in earnest –
The piling begins.
Work is really beginning to get underway here on site now. The weather has started to be a little kinder to us and there are many men and women in yellow jackets and hard hats hard at work getting things done.
The weather has seen a turn for the better, and as we enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather at the beginning of May we begun to wonder if summer really had come early! There's plenty to do around here when it's raining, but we still all enjoy the sunshine when we can get some.
Web Diary Introduction
Welcome to the Blists Hill Project Web Diary! This is where we'll be updating you on the progress of the Blists Hill Development Project.
Drip, drip, drop, little April showers... It's true; April does have a bit of a reputation for being a wet and miserable month. We've had our share of the rain here at Blists Hill, but the work goes on regardless. There's plenty of excitement going on here to distract us from the pitter-patter of raindrops on the rooftops!
